BLURB:

When a down-on-his-luck architect meets a closeted cowboy with a cranky horse, can they find common ground or will ghosts from the past destroy their future?

Ben Morillo, a prominent architect, has a good life. He works for one of the leading firms in New Hampshire, owns his flat and stays out of the lime light. That is until his ex-lover shows up at his work months after their violent break-up, making a scene that gets Ben fired.

Jack Marr, ranch owner and closeted cowboy, can’t believe his bad luck when he has to pick up the handsome friend of his veterinarian. Convinced Ben won’t stick around, Jack struggles to protect his heart before the attraction between them leaves him broken.

When Ben’s old boss tracks him down, he’s called back to New Hampshire to complete the job he was working on when the firm let him go. While Ben is determined to make Colorado his home, Jack is just as determined to consider Ben gone.

Ben and Jack must feel their way through an amused veterinarian, a cranky horse and too many misunderstandings, but in the end, will Ben be able prove that Jack’s way is the only way for him?

EXCERPT:

“Y’all going to sit in there all day?”
The familiar voice had Ben leaping out of the truck with a whoop. He raced over to his long time friend, skidded to a halt just in front of him, his hands up in the air. “Almost forgot. No hugs from the gay guy.”
Matt laughed, reached out and grabbed him tight. “We haven’t followed that rule since we slept together. Get over here.”
Ben hugged him back, enjoying the feel of someone not out for his own purpose. They broke apart, still laughing. “It’s good to see you, man.”
 “How’s my mare, Doc?”
“She and the foal are doing fine.” Matt held up his arm—a bloody bandage just under his elbow. “The doc is not so fine. That damn horse bit me again.”
“What?” Ben pulled Matt’s arm toward him, ignoring Jack’s snort. “You need to be cleaned up.” He half-dragged his friend behind him toward the house.
“He can clean up at his place.” Jack trailed behind them.
Ben stopped short, looking over his shoulder. “You can’t be serious.”
Matt eased out of Ben’s grip. “I’m okay. He’s right. Every time I treat that tramp, she bites me.”
“But—” Ben reached for Matt’s arm.
Jack nodded his head in the direction of Matt’s car. “See you tomorrow.”
Matt stifled a laugh. “C’mon, Ben. We better head out. Someone’s getting grouchy.”
“He asked for a job here. He stays here.” Jack said, the look on his face was nothing less than mulish.
Ben didn’t know whether to kick Jack’s ass or wrap his arms around him.
Matt was out and out laughing now. And the more Matt found funny, the cloudier Jack’s face got.
Matt waved. “Later, you two.” He winked at Ben as he climbed into his car.
Ben waited until Jack was even with him on the steps of the porch and Matt’s taillights were long gone. “Something wrong?”
If there was a more innocent face in all of Colorado, Ben didn’t know who it would belong to. “No. Why?” Jack asked.
